Yes! Get involved and help build the City of Light by making your own Lantern Building to add to the cityscape. Lantern workshops are for anyone and everyone to attend, at various venues across the city. Weekends: February 9th/10th and February 16th. Workshops to make mini lanterns will be taking place in the Palm House 20th – 24th from 10am – 4pm. Booking is essential.

A limited amount of special edition mini lanterns will be available to buy at the event to carry around with you.

St Michael’s is the nearest train station and is approx. 20 mins walk from Sefton Park.

 

If you are travelling by car, on street parking around the perimeter of Sefton park. There are limited accessible parking spaces available on a first come first served basis situated at the Aigburth Vale car park. This is for Blue badge holders only.

 

The installation illuminated and soundscape running from 5pm to 9pm each night. You can stay as long as you like - The lantern city installation is accompanied by an epic soundscape which is populated by real life stories, memories and poems from well over a hundred Liverpool residents involved in City of Light’s community outreach writing project. It could take anything from twenty minutes to one hour of listening, looking and experiencing the event. Seeing the floating city is free, but we need your support and you can help support it by donating through our crowd funder page, buying a lantern, and giving to our collectors on the night.

Both Habitats and City of Light, City of Sanctuary installations are wheelchair accessible. Please contact us with any specific access questions.

There are accessible toilets in the Aviary Café and Boating Lake Kiosk in Sefton Park.

Food and refreshments will be available at the Park Café’s and at Food and Drink stalls above the lake.

This is an outdoor winter event, so please come warmly dressed for the weather conditions, including suitable footwear.

Habitats takes place within the grounds of Sefton Park Palm house which is a fairly small contained area. You can stay as long as you want at Habitats, but you must stick to your allocated ticket time to enter. On average, we estimate a visit would take 20-30 mins. The Palm House is connected to the lake by a short well-lit walk through the park.

Any person with disabilities purchasing a ticket may bring one essential carer companion free of charge. Please book your carers ticket with Ticket Quarter at time of booking.

You will need to choose your ticket time slot. Entrance times are at 15 minute intervals from 5.00pm – 8.30pm(Habitats closes at 9pm).

Tickets are needed for all children aged 2 years old and over. Under 2’s are free. You will need to book your free ticket for under 2’s whilst booking your own ticket.

We endeavour to make the whole experience as fun and enjoyable as possible for all. Please arrive at your allotted time to help us avoid unnecessary entrance delays and congestion. Please allow plenty of time for car parking and/or walking from any of the entrances to Sefton Park

The Palm House refreshments bar will be open for drinks and snacks .
